Travel Services

When travelling abroad for business or pleasure, it is important to be prepared, as we are no longer offering a travel vaccination service at Parkside Medical Centre. Please contact one of the organisations below to obtain advice, or to book an appointment:

Please note this is not free on the NHS, so there will be a charge. Please ask at the time of your appointment.

Weight Management Clinic

If you have any concerns, or would like advice, ask one of our patient navigators for a healthy eating appointment with our HCA.

For a week before the appointment, you will asked to keep a food diary. At the appointment you will be weighed and healthy options, portion sizes of food, exercise and the way forward to a healthier lifestyle will be discussed.

If you want to be seen for future appointments you can arrange this with the HCA and your weight can be monitored.

Metabolic Screening Clinic

If you are obese (BMI >30) you are at risk of Metabolic Syndrome. Calculate your BMI using thisĀ NHS: BMI Calculator.

At the clinic you will come along fasted (i.e. no breakfast) and bloods will be taken. The nurse will take your blood pressure and measure your waist line. This information will be looked at by your doctor to decide if you have metabolic syndrome.

If you have metabolic syndrome, you will be called into the metabolic clinic, where the specially trained HCA will see you at regular intervals to check your weight, advise you on diet and exercise. After 1 year of follow up (1 month, 3 month, 6 month and 1 yearr), your measurements and bloods will be repeated to see if your efforts are reducing your risk for heart disease and diabetes.
